Safety Committee

Responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing programs and processes to ensure all Members are trained on the woodshop’s policies and procedures, and all Members operate the equipment in compliance with the woodshop’s standards for safety.  Has full authority regarding Member access and their use of the woodshop.Responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing programs and processes to ensure all Members are trained on the woodshop’s policies and procedures, and all Members operate the equipment in compliance with the woodshop’s standards for safety.  Has full authority regarding Member access and their use of the woodshop.

 

Safety

• Establishes and maintains the woodshop standards for safety

• Benchmarks woodshop safety policies against best practices

• Conducts periodic woodshop safety inspections of emergency equipment, flammable materials storage and control, material data sheets, overall operational practices, and safety procedures

• Develops, maintains, and posts safety signage for core machines

• Makes proactive recommendations to CEB to improve shop safety and operations

• Investigates Accidents/Incidents and provides reports to the CEB

• Makes reactive process or disciplinary recommendations to CEB in response to Accidents/Incidents

 

Training & Mentoring

• Develops and maintains training curriculums and materials for the safe use of the woodshop’s core and non-core machines

• Delivers and tracks Member training programs for the following:

• New Member Orientation

• Red Badge to Yellow Badge Progression

• Yellow Badge to Green Badge Progression

• Green Badge Recovery

• Core Machine Refresher

• Monitor Development

 

Monitor

• Ensures monitors understand and enforce all woodshop policies, procedures, and safety standards

• Conducts periodic Monitor meetings to communicate woodshop operational changes and solicit feedback

• Conducts periodic reviews of monitor performance

• Identifies candidates to become Green Badge/Monitors
